Rozz Coleman-Chapman: Rozz was born and raised in Warren, Ohio. She knew at a very young age that she wanted to be on stage as a Singer/Actress. Rozz is a versatile singer, actress, writer and director.
THE BEGINNING
She has been doing theatre for years starting with elementary school. She caught the musical theatre bug early. Her teachers noticed this ability in her and encouraged her to always audition for plays and choir. That congenial personality of hers was a plus and moved her forward. Her parents encouraged her and invested their time, money, support and most importantly their love. She was destined to succeed. Yet she remains humble after receiving many accolades and awards.
She has had roles in plays such as A Raisin in the Sun which doesn’t require her character to sing, but, when a director hears that she could sing; a song is added to the script for her. This happened often. Rozz took note but kept the desire to direct in the forefront.
THE MIDDLE
Rozz has worked in the school system putting kids and adults on the stage and loved every minute of it while traveling the country as a singer during the off season.
Rozz has written many plays for her Fine and Performing Arts Director job. The one most Notable is “…Make it Right” a musical play about Brown vs The Board of Education and desegregation in schools. She wrote, directed and composed all of the original music commemorating the 50th Anniversary on May 17th, 2004.
Once the school climate changed, she found herself wanting to sing more and more.
THE END IS YET TO COME…
She is a member of the following bands: Memphis Soul Brew, Classique and Timeless Classix with her sister Gwenn. There is never a dull moment, she constantly has more than one project at a time and always finds time to bring an electrifying performance to her audiences.
Rozz is the creator of Regal: A Tribute to the Royalty of Soul and One Night with the Queens. These are two high energy shows that showcase Motown favorites and pays tribute to other notable artists such as Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin and Donna Summer, Etta James, Gladys Knight and more
ROZZ SAYS
“I love spotting talent in others and bringing out the best in them for performance.”
I love the stage. It is like being at home and we all know there is no place like home.
I have adapted the same attitude as the late great Tina Turner who said, I am an entertainer.” I enter each performance with that attitude. I want the audience to have the experience of a lifetime every time!
I am touring with the Magical Motown Experience when I’m not performing my own shows. I love being busy and working with great talents. The world is full of great people and great music. I am fortunate to be surrounded by both.
I am the mother to one daughter Brie’An and 2 grandchildren. My daughter forever changed my life, and her husband Jamon is a bonus! Thank you, Brie!!
I am so happy and blessed to have the gift of song to share with all who will listen!
